Quarry Cycle Services was established by Jonny Ives to offer easily accessible assistance to anyone in and around Headington having problems with their bike.
As an enthusiastic cyclist with long experience of fiddling with his own bikes, Jonny was more than happy to help friends with their brakes and occasional breaks but as the number of requests increased he realised that it was high time he made sure he was doing things properly. As a result he trained to become a certified Cytech Level 2 cycle mechanic.
"You don't have to spend too long in Oxford to discover why this is one of the great cycling cities," Jonny says. "Riding a bike is the quickest, most reliable and most enjoyable way of getting around the city. However, a bike does need a bit of attention every now and then, particularly when you are relying on it as your daily transport.
"Not everyone has the time to get down and dirty with the rags and allen keys so I thought it would be nice to be able to bring my toolbox to where it's needed. I also happen to have a bike big enough to carry pretty much all we might need so parking shouldn't be a problem."
